The Visa section is opened to holders of appointments and official or diplomatic passports from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 11:30 am.

There is no hotline at the Visa Office. For any inquiry, please check this website. If you have a specific question, you may send it to ( [at] Please note that we are not able to reply questions for which the answers can be found on our website, as our priority in placed on receiving and processing visa applications.

Please allow up to 5 working days for the visa section to reply your email and refrain from sending your request several times.

Please note that :

- inquiries should only be about visas enquiries to France or the Schengen area. French nationals who need information about visas to Japan must contact the Japanese Embassy in France.
- The French Embassy will not confirm receiving documentation sent by post. Please refer to the carrier for information about tracking number and proof of delivery.
- Only the first email will receive an answer. If you send an other question after the reply to the first email, you will receive no answer. The answer is based only on the informations given in the question.
- we don’t reply to questions about formalities after arrival in France or questions about documents requested for a visa application (the list of the necessary documents is on the Embassy website)
- We do not check documents by email. The checks are made at the counter only, when filing the application.
- the Visa Office only deals with requests for short-stay visas (Schengen) within the French consular jurisdiction and long-stay visas for France.
- Users wishing to learn about living conditions in Japan should contact the Japanese authorities (Immigration Service in Japan or the Japanese Embassy in France).
