Receiving your passport by post or picking it up in person
Receiving your passport by post
Your passport can be returned by post if you provide a self-addressed Letter Pack 510 when applying for a visa (one Letter Pack for up to 5 passports). Alternatively, you can provide a self-addressed envelope with 600 JPY stamps (1 envelope per passport).
Choosing the option to receive your passport by post is recommended, as it will prevent you from coming twice to the Embassy.
A Letter Pack 510 allows you to track your passport online once it has been sent out (please remember to write down the tracking number before you give us the envelope).
Picking up your passport
If you chose to collect your passport in person, please come to the main entrance of the Embassy (not at the visa section) from Monday to Friday, from 12:30pm to 2pm.
The passport will be returned, only after the original receipt that you were given on the day you applied for a visa (“quittance”) is shown.
You can send a third party to pick up your passport. In this case, please provide with your application a letter of attorney duly dated and signed and naming your representative. When picking up the passport, this representative will have to visit the main entrance of the Embassy (not the visa section), from Monday to Friday, from 12:30pm to 2pm, and present a copy of the letter of attorney, a proof of his identity and the original receipt of the visa application ("quittance").
